Namaste Vineyards

We finally stopped by there last weekend. I've seen their sign from the highway on the way to the coast many many times and I've also heard about them from my yoga teacher/nutritionist friend Rebecca.  Problem is their tasting room is only open weekends in the spring and summer and we usually think about going there when they are closed. It's a cute little place tucked back from the main road a few miles and it's up on a hill that overlooks the valley. On Saturday, Dave the owner was behind the bar.

I love the names of their wines. Peace. Prosperity. Abundance. Serenity. We especially enjoyed their Pinot Noirs (of course) and having heard about their unusual "White Port" from Rebecca I asked about it. Apparently they made it one year and one year only. It sold out in no time flat and everybody keeps asking about it. The problem is making Port can be very time consuming and expensive so they are waiting to generate funds and interest before making it again. We asked if he had any on hand to taste and he sadly said "No".

Then we got to talking and decided to join their wine club. It's a conservative 3 bottle shipment just 2x per year. Much better than some places around here that want to autoship (and auto charge your credit card) a case every quarter. While I was filling out our little registration form, Dave disappeared to the backroom and reappeared with a bottle of the famed "White Port". Made with the requesite added Brandy it was really very good, albeit slightly unusual. Having never tasted a white port, and not generally liking traditional red ports,  I was pleasantly surprised.

The wine in me honors the wine in you :)
