Demolition......

So every now and then I have to keep you posted on the DIY projects around chez Yogagirl. Behold. Our backyard.

We knew when we bought this house in the summer of '06 that the nasty rotten deck out back would have to be replaced.  We briefly toyed around with the idea of putting in a nice concrete paver patio..and then we got a bid from this landscaper guy and it was to the tune of $30,000. Okay maybe that included some landscaping, retaining walls, plants, new sod, and a sprinkler system but it literally made us choke at the time and so we've lived with this teeny tiny rotten wood platform out of our back door for almost 2 years. That Kipper poops on. Because he hates going on the grass. We've actually affectionately coined it the "poop deck".

What we've decided to do is replace the old wooden deck with a *much* larger and more durable composite deck (Trex-like product). But now we're at a crossroads. Do it ourselves and literally take all summer? Or use our forthcoming federal tax rebate check and put it towards hiring a contractor. Right now? Hiring getting a professional to do it and perhaps getting it done by Memorial Day is sounding *extremely* good. Being able to enjoy it before summer is over? Even better.
