YOGAGIRL: As a mantra of fact.......

worried...new trainers at gym

posted Monday, 22 June 2009

So my general manager hired some new personal trainers at the gym. Both have some experience but no formal PFT certifications (yet). They've both agreed to get a suitable and reputable cert within 90 days of hire.  Which so happens to be today. The challenging part for these two guys is this: they don't get any pay except for PFT time. So they have to work the floor a lot for free and get out and about and promote themselves to the members in order to make some money. And they get 50% of anything they sell. Packages, one on one, duos, even small group bootcamp type sessions. All well and good.

Until at the end of the meeting today I asked if there were any questions and one of them asked me this: "So when you train people do you work out *with* them". Oh boy. Seriously? Really?  Certification, and a STAT one at that will do this guy well. I've got my eagle eyes focused right on him now.
